I thought that since I'm a huge science fiction buff that I'd also include some links and a post about cyberpunk fashion.
Movies such as Star Wars, The Matrix and television series such as Caprica and Babylon 5 typically have interesting takes on what the people of the future may dress like. I used to make sketches of fashion and when I was younger, I never thought that I would be interested in science fiction. Now that I am and have been for a while, I might as well post here my favorite links and photos of the ideal futuristic look.
ONLINE STORES:
Cryoflesh Clothing I love the clothes this online store sells. They are innovative, new and not over the top. I have a favorite dress from this store, and it's about $80. Either way, I can shell out that much for two videogames or buy a dress that I can wear to PAX next year. The model looks like she can be from cyberspace. I just found out that the model of the clothes owns the company. As a side note, I'm glad she didn't pick a model that looks like she can grace the pages of Elle or Maxim. I picture the futuristic look as being thin, but average in size, very little to no makeup and colored and sleek hair. If there will be women wearing makeup, then it will prolly be glow in the dark lipgloss or something. Or if the woman in the future has kinky hair, it'd prolly be in dredlocks or a Fro that is neatly sculpted. Other than that, I have like five favorite dresses that I'd love to collect: athena, binary, chemical warfare, equinox, hypheron, victoria , silo, proteus and nexxus. Some of the other dresses, not so much. They are cute, but I'm keeping my bodyshape in mind. I guess with geometric shoulders I have nothing to worry about.
Cyberdog The clothes are not as dark and futuristic as Cryoflesh's clothing. They are more bubbly. There is only one dress I like and it's the red one. Ravers are going to like these clothes more.
Futurstate : I really think that the clothes are well designed. However, it would be great if they chose colors other than black. I find the outfits to be expensive and I'd say the same for all the websites I just listed.
For those of you who are on a college budget like I am, I suggest collecting tons of pictures of the futuristic look that you like and shopping in cheaper stores to put the look together. There are so many kinds of futuristic looks that it makes it easier to adapt this style.
FAVORITE LOOKS:
The Matrix Series: When Neo, Trinity and Morpheus enter the matrix their clothes are not much different from the cyberpunk fashion that we know of today. However, when they exit the matrix into the deconstructed world of Zion, they are dressed in post apocalyptic fashion and it's transcultural. The colors are various shades of grays, some wear lavenders with ethnic motifs on decorated pieces. It's mostly influenced by the East Asian and Near Asian fashions. Particularly Indian and Chinese Buddhist fashions. I also see some ancient Greco Roman influences the clothes.
Star Wars Series: When I first started collecting pictures of the clothes my characters in my science fiction novella would wear, Star Wars was the first movie I thought of. It's been known for having some of the most creative futuristic looks ever seen in film. Padme is known in the series for grace, elegance and opulence. She is also known for having intricate hairstyles that matched her looks. Unlike the Matrix series, the clothing in Star Wars reflects a utopic environment.
Star Trek: Star Trek is one of the oldest on-going science fiction shows in television history. It ran from the mid 1970's to the middle of the 2000's. It had a movie that was recently released on DVD. I noticed that the futuristic fashion in that series changed according to the decade, but still, I give it credit for laying out the future for us through fashion. The fashion in this series is known for drawing influence from early european history with its form fitting gowns.
Caprica/Battlestar Galactica: I'm not sure if I should add these series to the list of futuristic looks. I chose to do so, because the Cylons in both series are known for looking good. Number Six is known for her form fitting dresses that were sculpted and her geometric bracelets and high heels. Zoe in Caprica is known for her modern look, but in the new season, her fashion sense will be showing more.
FUTURISTIC Hair
The hair will be a little bit tricky. Straight hair seems to go perfectly with the futuristic look. I would say that it might be difficult to pull off a futuristic look with curly or kinky hair. One option is dredlocks, but they are not temporary unless you find dreded extensions that match your hair color. Another one for kinky hair is the Grace Jones look. It's too androgenous for those who want to look feminine and futuristic. The best for right now I can think of is a "fro hawk" afro hair that is sleeked on the sides and left hanging in the center. It works depending on how long or short your hair is. Another option is flat twists or cornrows in the front and the hair hanging out behind it. Just wearing a wild afro is another one if your hair is really long. If your afro hair is really really long, like down the back long, then bunning it or straightening it and cutting the ends across evenly will create a futuristic look.

The Matrix and The New System
Everyone can clearly see that I love The Matrix series. I love all three of the movies, the first movie and the beginning of the second movie being my favorite. It somewhat made me think what if our lives are not real. What if I'm living in a virtual world. I'm an atheist who is supposed to rely on evidence and credibility, because that's how I arrived to my conclusion of atheism. At the same time, I'm not going to rule out the possibility. Every other creation or supernatural story takes credit over scientific analysis. So, I'd say why not?
My mom today says that she does not believe in the Christian creation story. She does not believe in the Big Bang Theory either, but she does not see how it's any less credible than the Christian creation story. I asked her what she believes, and she told me that after reading about the recent discovery she believes that some aliens created the human race and dropped us off here. When she said that, I couldn't believe it. Is Mom a Rhaelian? I certainly hope not, but in this world, or I should say universe, anything can be credible. Most people I know believe in the Christian account of how the universe came to be the way it is. I believe that that evolution and the big bang theory best explains the existence of this universe so far, and I have a friend who believes in reicarnation, my grandmother believes in ressurection, most people believe in an afterlife.
If I were to believe anything supernatural I'd believe in two possibilities: our lives are like tape recorders that play in loops. When we die, we basically live again, living the same lives we lived before we passed on. A better one would be the Matrix/ Caprica "Theory". When we die, we face our reality in the "afterlife", like Neo did when he took the red pill. In Caprica Zoe dies and she's trapped in a virtual world with her consciousness. That's also a possibility. Most transhumanists who are seeking to create a spiritual realm through science and technology will like these possibilities of an afterlife.
Since the birth of humanity, people throughout history have feared death so much that they seek to explain reasons why an afterlife exists. The story Gilgamesh is a story about a hero who wants to seek immortality through fame and glory. Same can be said about many stories in ancient history. I believe that the idea of a god or a set of gods looking after humanity stems from humanity's need to explain its existence and the existence of the universe.
Sometimes I wish that I was born five hundred years from now. I believe that people of the future will be better than the people of the turn of the twenty-first century. If I could do my adolescence over again, I'd spend my energy and my youthful persuits on tinkering with computers and focus more on science than art. If I were to ever want to live on, I would want to contribute my gift of technology to humanity. I can say that the work of science can be inspired by philosophy. Most people do not believe in having faith in science. I'd say if something goes wrong, it's not the gun that kills people, it's the person who pulled the trigger.
I believe that the planet that was recently discovered harbors life. However, I'm not sure that it's land mass will be able to accomodate humanity. It's about a few sizes bigger than Earth, so if I'm one hundred eight pounds here on planet Earth, then I'll prbably be one hundred sixty on planet Gliese. I hope that our economy does not collapse, so NASA can fund a space trip to this newly discovered planet. I would guess that the only way possible to colonize this planet is if a major corporation fund the trip, everything from technology to get there to equipment to sustain humanity on this most likely one way trip.

"Should We Fear Space Aliens?" : In response to this article, I do believe that there is life in other parts of the galaxy. Same can be definately said of planets in other galaxies. It would be very arrogant and naiive to believe that we are the only life in the galaxy, let alone the universe. Besides that, I personally do not believe that we should fear space aliens, if they have the same moral intelligence as a human who lives an industrialized country. If I saw another alien, or another being that has as much mental compacity as a human, it would have my respect. I think most likely, a sentient being would most likely go to war with humanity, enslave us and/or decimate us. The way we treat eachother through out history can be a case study for how an alien from another civilization would treat us. I would hope if there are aliens, they would be a benevolent as agrarian civilizations. Some people believe in the Mayan calender. Some say that the world will end in 2012, I believe that if something were to happen, it would have to do with the change in humanity, not the changes on the planet.

Random Post
I made a post saying that I'm not going to write anything other than videogames, technology, music and scifi. I guess I can tie these topics to what I want to write.
I met one of the older people who live here, in these sets of apartments. It's pretty a pretty nice guy, but there are people who are old school and there are people who are old school. I believe he's the latter. My mom believes that it's fine to be someone's friend just to be their friend. I don't see it that way. I believe that friendships are like dating. To be someone's friend, that person has to share the same tolerance of others that I share.
I remember the guy saying "you seem to cut alot of friends", and I was like "well yeah. I am easily annoyed by others." The conversation got weirder when he asked me questions like "have you ever dated a black guy?" "Do you like black people?" and when I told him one of my friends is Latino, he described him as "Mexican" when he's not. I corrected him on that and he was nice and cordial, but seemed a bit defensive.
This man is a really nice man who is willing to show me how to use imaging programs, but I don't know if I can be friends with anyone who has an old fashion world view. I know that he said that he does not agree with the LGBT lifestyle, but I think he sees it as a choice. He also does not have a concept of what the green movement entails. Not to mention that he keeps convincing me that digital art is the best way to go. I want to tell him with the way the economy is, there won't be any advancement of technology, thus very little room for digital art. In order to understand all visual art, you must understand the basics. In otherwords, it does not make sense if someone can make drawings on a computer if that person does not know how to use pencil and paper.It's hard to have conversations with people who do not have a sense of self-discovery. I am lucky that he just wants to be a friend and show me the ropes of computer imaging. I guess I'm a free-spirited person and I need to be around others who are similar.
BTW, I made the conscious decision to only date men who are vegan. It has nothing to do with culture of veganism, but rather the attraction I have for a man who shares similar goals in life. Men who are vegan also look younger.

My Philosophy Test/ Other Things
Yesterday evening I took the philosophy exam. It was not my best, but now I know what to expect on my instructor's future exams. It wasn't so much that I bombed the test on whim. I believe that I got pwned by it and it's worth 18% of my grade. That means if I get an A on everyother exam and the paper and future assignments, then the highest I can get in the class is a B-.
Taking the test would not have been bad if the following things did not happen:
Procastination: I realize now that I have to go back to the old ways of studying for these classes as school is not going to get any easier as I proceed. My biggest mistake is waiting until the weekend before the exam to decide that I want to study.
Lack of help: Asking for help or getting tutoring is essential to be successful in college. I'll keep this in mind in the future.
Not studying on campus: I have too many distractions at home and the internet is one of them. I know better now. I rather cut off the bad habits now and not wait until two weeks until finals
The three things listed are things that I could control. I cannot control running into my ex and his new presumed girlfriend. That was a huge distraction. I regret dating him, and the fact that I have to share my share any space with him makes me cringe. It made me want to go back home, but I cannot afford to miss another art class, so I had to go to art class, be stressed and show up to philosophy only to bomb the test epically.
My male friend from California called during class. I got lucky because the phone was on vibrate. Later on last night I ran into an older man that helped me move in May. He's a pretty nice guy. He reminds me of my uncle and he's in his late thirties. It's hard to fully trust anyone if you live on your own without family, even when you share your life story with others. I think next time I'll be careful when I meet others.

Long Break From Studying
I am taking a long, overly destracted break from my philosophy book. The test is tomorrow, and it's almost 11pm. Earlier I made a couple of blogposts about race and religion. Because this is a gaming blog and I want more readers, I am going to take those down and stay true to the content of this site. I believe that expressing my frustrations with humanity through concrete forms of expression will make me no better than the people I am verbally lashing out against. It's not a matter of censorship, but a realization that I want my blog to be a possible avenue for gamers like myself. Unlike mainstream sites who allow free reign in the comment session, I want my blog and eventually my website to be a means to bring together a real community of gamers that welcomes everyone.
I noticed that I've been going blogging overload. Just so much to say that some things I decide to take down do not matter. I have two other blogs: Life On The Cheap and Prometheus. Prometheus will be a website dedicated to art and gaming eventually.
I think due to my semi-antisocial behavior lately, I've been making at least two blogs per day and they are like five pages long. I don't want to bore my readers to tears. I want them to be excited when they read my material online. In place of blogging so much, I'll be coming up with new art projects and studying more for each class. There are so many ideas for so many things I want to do that I can't keep up with them.

Maintenance
I usually read my blog posts long after I post them and some of them are in need of editing and revising due to grammar, spelling and content. Although my blogs are available to the world to read, they are usually written as though no one reads them. So, incase someone somehow finds my blog and reads it, I want to make sure that it passes the grammer and spelling test.
Every Thursday or Friday, I'll designate some time in my school's computer lab to edit and revise posts. This is for both of my blogs (Ungrounded and Life On The Cheap).
